The Unix/Linux System Administrator will have responsibilities that include:
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Linux/Unix operating systems, including Red Hat, CentOS, Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu.
- Manage physical and virtual servers, system services, storage, user accounts, and access permissions.
- Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, patching, and security updates.
- Implement server security measures, manage SSH/Sudo access, and address vulnerabilities.
- Monitor system resources, conduct capacity planning, and ensure reliable server performance.
- Manage backup systems, perform recovery testing, and support disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Perl to improve administrative efficiency.
- Support network configurations, including DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Maintain technical documentation, hardware records, and support high-availability infrastructure.
Job Requirment
- A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related area is required.
- Candidates should have 3–5 years of practical experience supporting and managing Unix/Linux-based systems in corporate or large-scale IT environments.
- Demonstrated ability to deploy, set up, maintain, and upgrade Linux platforms, including Oracle Linux and Ubuntu distributions.
- Hands-on experience working with dedicated servers, virtual environments, and cloud-hosted Linux infrastructures.
- Capability to create Bash-based scripts and implement automation methods for improving system administration workflows.
- Strong familiarity with Red Hat administration principles and Red Hat engineering practices.
- Experience with Oracle Linux deployment and VMware virtualization technologies will be considered an advantage.
- Ability to establish and manage communication links between servers operating on different platforms.
- Comprehensive knowledge of operating system management, including account administration, group control, permission settings, authentication mechanisms, and security configurations.
- Practical background in system analysis, performance improvement, fault diagnosis, monitoring solutions, and infrastructure capacity management.
- Exposure to major cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
- Experience maintaining business applications and database systems hosted on Linux environments.
- Strong technical understanding of network and storage technologies, including TCP/IP protocols, DNS services, SSH connectivity, NFS, firewall management, and storage systems such as LVM, SAN, and NAS.
