Opportunity Description

Applications are open for China Link Scholarship Program. For international students and faculty hoping to participate in academic and research activities in China, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) has established the China Link Scholarship Program. The program aims to foster the academic friendship and mutual understanding between the younger generations in China and abroad as well as to create a platform for international exchanges and cooperation of young talents.

Benefits:

During one’s stay in China, they will receive:

  • Full scholarship, which waives their tuition,
  • Medical insurance premium, and
  • On-campus dorm fees.
  • Stipend per month: CNY 3,500 for senior scholars; CNY 3,000 for general scholars.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Hold citizenship in a nation other than the People’s Republic of China and maintain good physical and mental health.
  • At the time of application and for the duration of their intended stay in China, be enrolled full-time as a student or employed as a full-time academic staff member at one of CSC’s international partner universities (international University List.xlsx).
  • To be eligible for general scholars, you must be under 45 years old. Applying for senior scholar status requires you to be under 50 years old.

 

Documents Requirement:

  • Every electronic document that is submitted needs to be a scanned copy of the original. It is advised to scan the papers in color in PDF format, with the exception of the ID photo.
  • Original documents that are not in English or Chinese must be translated into one of those languages, notarized, and uploaded with the originals.

 

Mandatory:

  • Passport (and visa) Page: a clean copy of your current passport that includes your name, photo, birthplace, date of issuance, and expiration date. The passport’s validity should be at least six months. If you are currently in China or have visited previously, all visa pages are necessary.
  • Certificate of Highest Education: an official seal or signature on an enrollment or employment letter from your present university.
  • Transcripts of Highest Education: These comprise all of your highest education’s grades and semesters. It is strongly advised to attach the transcript sheets and an explanation of the grading schemes.
  • Study Plan: A 500-word personal statement (for general scholar applicants) or a research proposal (for senior scholar applicants) written in the program’s teaching language.
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Record:
    • A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, filled out in either English or Chinese, is required for applicants who intend to stay in China for more than six months. Every item on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form must be covered by the medical examinations. Records that are missing any of these components—the official hospital stamp, the attending physician’s signature, or a sealed photo of the applicant—are deemed invalid. The results of a medical checkup are only good for six months.
    • Alternatively, applicants who plan to stay in China for less than six months may upload a personal health statement.
  • Report on non-criminal records:
    • A photocopy of the non-criminal records report from the public authority at the applicant’s current residence is required if the applicant plans to remain in China for longer than six months. typically provided six months before the application submission deadline.
    • Alternatively, applicants who want to stay in China for less than six months may upload a statement of non-criminal history.

How to Apply?

  • Applicants are suggested to first contact DHU professors or research groups for initial acceptance, or alternatively contact DHU International Student Office via the email address below. Then, applicants should submit an online application to Donghua University under the guidance of the International Student Office.
  •  DHU will review the applications again. The International Student Office will give a Pre-admission Letter to applicants who pass the review, as well as instructions on how to submit the online scholarship application to CSC.
  • CSC will decide whether or not to give the scholarship to the application, and the decision will be communicated to DHU academics or research groups, as well as the applicant, via the DHU International Student Office.
