The Shariah Board Member will have responsibilities that include:
- The Shariah Board member is responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s activities, products, and operations comply with Islamic Shariah principles.
- The member reviews and approves contracts, legal documents, marketing materials, and product guidelines from a Shariah perspective.
- The member evaluates and approves Shariah policies and manuals developed by the Bank.
- The member provides Shariah guidance and advice to the Islamic Banking Department and Bank Management.
- The member ensures that profit distribution, loss treatment, and financial activities comply with Islamic banking principles and regulatory requirements.
- The member provides guidance on penalties, charitable activities, and other Shariah-related matters.
- The member reviews Islamic Banking operations and reports any Shariah non-compliance issues to the relevant authorities.
Job Requirment
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Islamic Studies, Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), or Fiqh al-Mu’amalat.
- Strong knowledge of Shariah principles, Islamic commercial law, and experience in providing Shariah rulings.
- Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in Shariah advisory or Islamic banking.
- Familiarity with banking operations and Islamic banking practices.
- Strong understanding of Shariah Board responsibilities, banking activities, and related risks.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in local languages and English.
- Ability to dedicate sufficient time and commitment to perform Shariah Board duties effectively.
