The Nurse will have responsibilities that include:
- Assess patients’ health conditions through triage and refer cases to the appropriate medical staff, including midwives, medical assistants, or physicians.
- Provide direct nursing care, including wound dressing, catheterization, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications.
- Prepare and maintain the observation room, medical equipment, and necessary supplies.
- Provide first aid and emergency support according to medical guidelines under the supervision of a physician.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and safe storage of medical instruments.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to nursing assistants.
- Follow infection prevention and universal safety precautions at all times.
- Educate patients and communities on routine immunization, vaccine benefits, possible side effects, and the importance of maintaining vaccination records.
- Refer patients requiring further care to appropriate healthcare providers and support clinic operations as needed.
- Assist with community-based identification, screening, referral, and follow-up of malnutrition cases among children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
- Ensure accurate registration, admission, discharge, and monitoring of OTP patients.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirment
- A valid nursing certificate is required.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in nursing or healthcare services.
- Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required; proficiency in English will be considered an advantage.
- Previous experience in emergency health response projects is preferred.
- Prior experience working with an international NGO is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to INTERSOS principles, policies, and professional standards.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and respond to field-related inquiries from supervisors.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and stay overnight at service delivery locations as required.
