An international non-profit humanitarian help organization called INTERSOS seeks to provide aid to individuals who are in danger as well as victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Since its founding in 1992, it has operated under the principles of respect for variety and peaceful coexistence, human dignity, solidarity, justice, and equal rights and opportunities for all, with a focus on the most vulnerable and unprotected. INTERSOS is an autonomous organization that efficiently responds to the needs of individuals in dire conditions of crisis, primarily in the world’s poorest areas, by means of its own humanitarian operators. These individuals suffer, deny themselves of basic necessities, dignity, and rights. It keeps its operational structure adaptable.
Job Summary
- To ensure efficient and correct implementation of case management activities for CP cases, GBV survivors and People with Specific Needs (PwSN) among the IDPs, Returnees and host communities. To act according to the guiding principles of case management including using a survivor-centered approach, confidentiality, safety, do not harm and non-discrimination. To ensure that protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced.
The INTERSOS Jobs in Zabul, (Case Worker Team Leader) will have responsibilities that include:
- Responsible technically for all the open cases with the case workers under his technical supervision (SW hierarchically report to PAM);
- Ensure effective service mapping and case assignment for the vulnerable.
- Ensure that each step of the individual case management is properly done in accordance with the INTERSOS ICM SoPs, and GBV and CP standards and principles.
- Ensure the quality, regular and timely-follow up of the open cases and the implementation of the action plan;
- Ensure caseworkers effectively carry out case management (CM) and receive necessary support.
- Continuously insure, through regular meetings with the Case Workers, that the case is progressing in the right direction, and re-assessed when needed to adapt the response.
- Regularly consult with the Case Management Specialist regarding the progress of the cases, request case meetings for any complicated or high-risk cases.
- Make every effort not to close a case before having exhausted all the possible resources to find the needed service for the beneficiary and according to IMS SoPs ;
- Ensure that the filing of the cases is done in accordance to the SoPs in place,
- Assign and review caseloads, addressing challenges with PAM/CM Specialist.
- Organize meetings with service providers and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Undertake field visits for technical guidance and supervision.
- Support the staff teams through the development of a technically sound (monthly & weekly) work plan consistent with the goals and objectives of the project.
- Supervise the provision of CP, PWSNs, and GBV case management services, including Cash for Protection assistance (CPA) and in-kind assistance (dignity kits and education kits) in accordance with internal SOPs.
- Capacity building and Reporting
- Directly report to PAM and consult with CM specialist for complicated or high-risk cases
- Empower teams through capacity building, formal training, and on-the-job mentoring.
- Provide regular feedback to caseworkers on the cases under her/his review
- Supervise field teams, report concerns promptly, and collaborate with external parties.
- Report to the CM Specialist if the services mapping needs to be updated or a sector (health, security, legal, etc.) is lacking.
- Closely and harmoniously work with the PAM and CM Specialist through regular and ad-hoc meetings to provide feedback, promote technical ideas and discuss about the case-load and Case Management;
- Update the internal database (in liaison with PAM) on a bi-weekly basis;
- Monitor the respect of confidentiality and data protection agreement and principles by the case workers under her/his technical supervision.
- Assist in providing statistics and reports, maintaining data confidentiality.
- Coordination:
- Ensure excellent and efficient relationships with external stakeholders through regular communication and follow-up on pending/referred cases.
- Compile with INTERSOS CP, PSEA, and Data protection policies, Cash and case management SOPs.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality during its processing with case beneficiaries
Job Requirment
- Advanced university degree in Political Science, Law, Psychology, Social Work, or any other related studies;
- Minimum two years of relevant protection work experience in the humanitarian sector (National NGO, INGO, UN agencies);
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of Protection Principles, GBV, CP and PwSN;
- Experience and good knowledge of case management steps;
- Fluency in English and Pashtu is essential (writing and speaking);
- Proficiency in Computer literacy (Excel, Word, etc.);
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles and Code of Conduct and PSEA policy & policies and procedures
- Prior experience in the Southern Region of Afghanistan (Kandahar or Zabul districts);
- Ability and willingness to travel to the areas of operation within Kandahar
