Job Summary

• The MHPSS project officer supports, monitors, and evaluates the execution of the assigned project which involves effectively managing and reporting on the project’s objectives, indicators, timeframe, and budget. In close coordination with the relevant department and bodies, the project manager is responsible for recruitment, capacity building of staff, quality assurance, coordination and liaison with stakeholders and local
• communities on proper and smooth implementation of the assigned project.

The IMC Jobs in Kunar, ( MHPSS Officer) will have responsibilities that include:

• Objective 1: Manage the project(s) MHPSS team, contribute to knowledge management, evaluating the training needs and delivering training as necessary on MHPSS topics and providing technical inputs and guidance to the IMC’s MHPSS team, other departments, and partner organizations.
• Provide continual technical guidance and support for MHPSS-related training and supervision as needed under the guidance of MHPSS coordination team.
• Prepare and implement training on relevant topics and support national trainers to roll out training.
• Support IMC’s partner organization in capacity development of their staff on
• MHPSS topics as needed.
• Conduct regular training needs assessment to ensure the capacity development needs of each individual MHPSS team member are considered and addressed.
• Coordinate regularly with other teams, including Medical, protection and Nutrition and Health for integrated approach to activities and training.
• Responsible for recruitment of the MHPSS team in the province, upon delegation/assignment from the MHPSS/project manager and/or the MHPSS coordination team.
• Carry out performance appraisals for all staff under his management.
• Organize and facilitate internal meetings such as team meetings, technical meetings, and case discussions.
• Oversee the daily operational management of the project activities and coordinate with different departments within the organization (logistics, finance).
• Objective 2: Actively contribute to strengthening coordination among the stakeholders in the province and establishment of multi-sectoral, multi-layered referral system.
• Support the development of MHPSS referral pathways with partner NGO(s) and external service providers to strengthen links to available MHPSS- and Protection-related services.
• In collaboration with local partners, engage community leaders, community- based organizations, and other service providers in supporting beneficiaries to access MHPSS services as well as ensuring their feedback for quality monitoring and accountability.
• Lead the community-based intervention and discussion related to MHPSS topics.
• Participate in MHPSS local coordination meetings for information sharing, collaboration with partners, referral mechanisms, and advocacy for best practices and IASC MHPSS guidelines.
• Participate in any intended MHPSS research study and/or professional field assessment.
• Act as the focal person for MHPSS services/ referral and case management for assigned project(s) and update the 4W service mapping.
• Objective 3: Ensure quality of MHPSS services, proper documentation and draft reports covering the MHPSS related activities including context analysis, statistical and narrative reports.
• Conduct regular spot checks to ensure the data collection and documentation are appropriate and complete.
• Assure that the field teams are aware of the MHPSS MEAL tools, filling the information accurately and are documenting them safely.
• Regularly checking and updating the PMT in collaboration with the MEAL team in the field and narrative the statistical achievements of the project.
• Conducting field visits to the intervention sites to ensure that the MHPSS team in the sites are receiving adequate on the job technical support and supervision.
• Closely work with local NGO partner(s)/MHPSS actors and relevant government focal points for the implementation and monitoring of MHPSS project as needed/instructed.
• Lead the development of MHPSS-related IEC materials Including training tools translation in Dari/Pashto.
• Oversee monitoring and evaluation of MHPSS programming, and collection and analysis of program data.
• Deliver MHPSS reporting and case supervision report on a regular basis and draft the donor reports.
• Provide feedback on important issues that require MHPSS coordination and
• project team’s attention, feedback, and decision making.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager or MHPSS deputy/coordinator.

Job Requirment

• The qualified candidate will be a mental health professional (BA of psychology, clinical/counseling psychology, clinical social worker).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience coordinating MHPSS projects in humanitarian settings, and supervision of MHPSS team.
• Competency
• Knowledgeable in and experience following IASC Guidelines on MHPSS in Emergencies and international best practices on the integration of MHPSS into primary health care settings.
• Training experience required; capacity and proven track record in national staff and partner training and capacity-building.
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills
