The Gynecologist will have responsibilities that include:

    • Provide specialized obstetric and gynecological care, including diagnosis, treatment, referrals, follow-up, and identification of cases requiring surgical intervention.
    • Manage emergency maternal health consultations and monitor patients throughout their treatment until discharge from BEmONC services.
    • Maintain accurate medical records, including patient history, examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge information.
    • Support maternity teams, especially midwives, in planning medical activities and improving clinical protocols and procedures.
    • Ensure all SRH services are delivered according to INTERSOS standards, hygiene requirements, and medical guidelines.
    • Conduct regular patient assessments, participate in emergency response, and provide 24/7 on-call support for obstetric and gynecological cases.
    • Coordinate patient care, referrals, treatments, and collaboration with doctors, nurses, midwives, and external health facilities.
    • Monitor implementation of medical protocols, identify training needs, and contribute to capacity-building activities for healthcare staff.
    • Support accurate reporting, health statistics, team coordination, and continuous improvement of maternity and reproductive health services.
    • Maintain awareness of INTERSOS policies, security procedures, humanitarian context, and support communication, translation, and coordination when required.

Job Requirment

    • Certified medical doctor with a recognized specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with relevant training and experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH).
    • Previous experience with INTERSOS, other NGOs, or healthcare services in developing countries is considered an advantage.
    • Proficiency in speaking and writing Pashto and Dari is required; knowledge of English is an asset.
    • Strong clinical knowledge of obstetric and gynecological care, emergency management, triage, and maternal, child, and neonatal resuscitation.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coordination abilities with a professional and respectful approach.
    • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments as a cooperative and adaptable team member.
    • Capable of remaining calm under pressure, managing stress, listening effectively, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
    • Availability to respond to emergencies and flexibility to support additional duties when required.
    • Commitment to INTERSOS values, policies, procedures, and humanitarian principles.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively, report to senior management, and travel or stay overnight at service locations when necessary.
