AGA KHAN HEALTH SERVICES (AKHS)

The Aga Khan Health Services is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that supports activities in the health field, and manages more than 200 health facilities, including a network of Aga Khan Hospitals. It works closely with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the Aga Khan University (AKU) on planning, training, and resource development, and with the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) and the Aga Khan Planning and Building Services (AKPBS) on the integration of health issues into specific projects. With community health programmes in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, AKHS is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. It provides curative health care through 237 health centres, dispensaries, hospitals, diagnostic centres and community health outlets to one million beneficiaries and handles 1.2 million patient visits annually. Building on the Ismaili Community’s health care efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary health care and curative care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.

The Finance Supervisor will have responsibilities that include:

    • Led the implementation of the new ERP system and ensured timely provision of required financial data to consultants.
    • Delivered training and capacity building for local and regional finance teams on ERP system usage.
    • Ensured full compliance with organizational policies, procedures, donor regulations, and financial standards.
    • Maintained accurate, up-to-date financial records in line with institutional and donor requirements.
    • Reviewed and approved payments with proper documentation, authorization, and internal controls.
    • Managed petty cash operations, including disbursement, reconciliation, and reporting in accordance with procedures.
    • Processed financial transactions promptly and ensured accurate recording in the Financial Information System (FIS).
    • Coordinated with the Grants team to align expenditures with approved budgets and financial 
    • dimensions.Performed monthly financial closing activities,, including bank reconciliation, accruals, and adjustments within set deadlines.
    • Monitored advances and ensured timely settlement in compliance with financial policies.
    • Strengthened internal financial controls and ensured effective monitoring of financial systems.
    • Supported internal and external audits by preparing required financial reports and documentation.
    • Reviewed regional financial transactions and implemented corrective actions where necessary.
    • Acted as Finance Manager in the absence of the line manager when required.
    • Performed additional duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirment

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university; MBA or professional certification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
    • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in finance,including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
    • Prior experience in donor-funded projects, financial reporting, and audit coordination is preferred.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial management systems.
    • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong analytical, communication, and supervisory capabilities.
