The Aga Khan Health Services is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that supports activities in the health field, and manages more than 200 health facilities, including a network of Aga Khan Hospitals. It works closely with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the Aga Khan University (AKU) on planning, training, and resource development, and with the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) and the Aga Khan Planning and Building Services (AKPBS) on the integration of health issues into specific projects. With community health programmes in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, AKHS is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. It provides curative health care through 237 health centres, dispensaries, hospitals, diagnostic centres and community health outlets to one million beneficiaries and handles 1.2 million patient visits annually. Building on the Ismaili Community’s health care efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary health care and curative care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.

The Vaccinator will have responsibilities that include:

    • Identify and follow up with children who have missed their routine vaccinations, provide immunization services, and support vaccine administration whenever needed, particularly during the absence of the assigned vaccinator.
    • Develop and organize vaccination work plans for the assigned coverage area in accordance with national guidelines and operational procedures.
    • Register and maintain accurate records of children and women who are eligible to receive immunization services.
    • Administer routine vaccines safely and correctly by following the National Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) schedule.
    • Ensure proper storage, handling, and transportation of vaccines by strictly following cold chain requirements, including the use of refrigerators, thermometers, and cold boxes.
    • Prepare, update, and submit accurate daily and monthly vaccination reports and service records.
    • Report any Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) promptly to the relevant health authorities in accordance with established protocols.
    • Educate parents and caregivers about the importance of immunization, potential side effects, and the recommended schedule for future vaccine doses.
    • Support national vaccination campaigns, including door-to-door initiatives such as polio campaigns, and participate in other special immunization activities.
    • Attend coordination meetings, training sessions, and capacity-building programs organized by the health team or the EPI program.
    • Follow infection prevention and control measures by maintaining workplace hygiene and properly using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Provide respectful and professional services to beneficiaries while ensuring confidentiality, ethical conduct, and high standards of patient care.
    • Assist in implementing fixed-site, outreach, and mobile vaccination services, while supporting disease surveillance activities, including monitoring cases of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), measles, neonatal tetanus, and adverse events following immunization within the assigned catchment area.

Job Requirment

    • Completion of Grade 12, graduation from a recognized vaccination training program, or a secondary-level medical qualification is required.
    • A minimum of 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in vaccination services, healthcare, or a related health sector is preferred.
    • Proficiency in local languages, including Dari, Pashto, and Uzbek.
    • Strong coordination, communication, and teamwork abilities.
