Action Against Hunger (ACF) is an international non-governmental organization established in France in 1979. It has been operating in Afghanistan since 1995, focusing on health, nutrition, food security, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs.
ACF works to improve access to essential health and nutrition services for vulnerable populations, particularly in remote areas with limited or no access to healthcare systems. Its programs primarily target pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five, who are most at risk of malnutrition.
The organization applies an integrated approach that addresses both the immediate and underlying causes of malnutrition to ensure sustainable impact. Interventions are implemented at community, provincial, and national levels, strengthening local health systems and contributing to evidence-based humanitarian responses.
In response to COVID-19, ACF incorporated prevention measures into all programs and supported additional activities, including health facility disinfection, cash assistance, psychosocial support, and hygiene kit distribution to affected communities.
