The Safety and Security Coordinator will have responsibilities that include:

    • The Safety & Security (S&S) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and delivering technical guidance to ensure the effective implementation of Mercy Corps’ Global Minimum Safety & Security Standards throughout its
    • Afghanistan country program. This role emphasizes context analysis, access and movement planning, risk-based decision-making, and supporting the safe, secure, and accountable execution of program activities.
    • Working closely with both program and operations teams, the coordinator helps strengthen program quality while mitigating operational risks in a challenging and dynamic environment.
    • This is an advisory and coordination-focused position that does not carry direct staff management responsibilities or budget oversight.

Job Requirment

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of six years of professional experience in security management, humanitarian operations, or programs operating in insecure and conflict-affected environments.
    • Demonstrated expertise in security risk management, cross-cultural team coordination, stakeholder engagement, donor compliance, and conflict-sensitive programming.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and leadership skills are essential, along with fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of gender, protection, and humanitarian principles is considered an advantage.
