Key responsibilities of Reporter:
- News Gathering & Investigative Research: Collect, verify, and cross-check facts through field observations, interviews, and background research to develop well-rounded news stories.
- Content Writing & Editing: Write engaging articles, headlines, and broadcast scripts adhering to internal editorial standards and style guidelines; assist with video editing when required.
- On-Air & Live Reporting: Appear on television to deliver live field reports, host recorded interviews, or provide voiceover narration from event sites or mobile broadcast units.
- Multimedia Production: Capture photographs and video footage of key events, objects, and locations to visually enhance news packages.
- Monitoring & Beat Specialization: Monitor police/emergency radio channels and news feeds for breaking story leads; specialize in core beats such as political affairs, sports, court trials, or emergency coverage.
- Correspondent & Transmission Duties: Transmit raw data/notes to news writers when necessary, and serve as a regional or field correspondent if assigned to outlying provinces or foreign locations.
- Managerial Support: Perform any other newsroom and reporting duties assigned by the line manager.
Job Requirment
- Education: Bachelorās degree in Broadcast Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, Dari/Pashto Literature, or a closely related field.
- Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of practical reporting, newsgathering, or editorial experience is strongly preferred.
- Technical & Core Skills:
- Exceptional writing, copyediting, and proofreading capabilities in alignment with broadcast standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex stories clearly.
- Advanced research and investigative skills to verify factual information.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct engaging interviews and extract key story elements under tight deadlines.
- Fast and accurate typing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic newsroom software.
