UNOPS origins trace back to 1973, and until 1994 the Office for Project Services was part of the UN Development Programme. By decision of the UN General Assembly, UNOPS became a separate, self-financing entity within the UN development system on 1 January 1995. The UNOPS Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners.  It is led by the Director, who has overall authority and accountability for the performance PSC on behalf of its clients.  The Director is responsible for administering and providing oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations.

The Project Management Support - Specialist will have responsibilities that include:

    • Support project planning, implementation, monitoring, and timely delivery within approved scope, budget, quality, and timelines.
    • Coordinate daily project operations and monitor risks, performance, contracts, procurement, and financial activities.
    • Maintain effective relationships with donors, partners, government authorities, beneficiaries, and project teams.
    • Prepare and review project, financial, and performance reports and support quality assurance and compliance.
    • Assist with staff management, recruitment, onboarding, performance, and capacity building.
    • Ensure compliance with UNOPS policies, donor requirements, safeguarding, gender, inclusion, environmental, and safety standards.
    • Analyze project data, identify challenges, and support effective corrective actions and decision-making.
    • Contribute to business development, stakeholder engagement, training, knowledge sharing, and other project management activities.

Job Requirment

    • Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Relevant experience in project management or related fields.
    • Strong skills in data analysis, project implementation, reporting, and stakeholder management.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, G-Suite, and web-based management systems.
    • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt to change, and manage diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience in multicultural, development, humanitarian, or UN environments is an advantage.
    • A recognized project management certification or professional membership is preferred.
    • Fluent English is required.
