The Aga Khan Health Services is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that supports activities in the health field, and manages more than 200 health facilities, including a network of Aga Khan Hospitals.
It works closely with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the Aga Khan University (AKU) on planning, training, and resource development, and with the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) and the Aga Khan Planning and Building Services (AKPBS) on the integration of health issues into specific projects.
With community health programmes in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, AKHS is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. It provides curative health care through 237 health centres, dispensaries, hospitals, diagnostic centres and community health outlets to one million beneficiaries and handles 1.2 million patient visits annually.
Building on the Ismaili Community’s health care efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary health care and curative care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.

The Nurse will have responsibilities that include:
- Provide respectful and culturally appropriate services to patients, clients, and health facility staff while maintaining professional conduct and commitment to assigned duties.
- Support the implementation of health programs, quality improvement initiatives, and internal development activities within the health center.
- Participate in trainings, share knowledge with health workers, and provide health education and awareness to patients and communities.
- Assist in managing health center operations, coordinating activities, reporting incidents, and responding effectively to emergencies.
- Ensure proper implementation of infection prevention standards, rational drug use practices, hygiene procedures, and quality healthcare protocols.
- Monitor child growth, identify and manage malnutrition cases, implement IMNCI activities, and supervise related healthcare services.
- Support doctors in delivering quality patient care, including emergency services, blood collection, transfusion support, and inpatient monitoring.
- Conduct tuberculosis case identification, sample collection, patient registration, treatment follow-up, DOTS implementation, and regular reporting.
- Provide health promotion, counseling, referral, and follow-up services for patients with mental health conditions and disabilities according to BPHS guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare regular reports, participate in health council meetings, and perform other duties assigned by the clinic manager.
Job Requirment
- Education: A recognized Diploma in Nursing from an accredited university or educational institution is required.
- Work Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in hospitals or health facilities, with preference given to candidates familiar with BPHS and EPHS services.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills in Dari, along with proven ability to manage and coordinate healthcare-related activities effectively.
- Language Requirements: Excellent written and verbal proficiency in Dari is essential.
- Location Requirement: Candidates who are residents of Bamyan Province are eligible and encouraged to apply for this position.
