The Aga Khan Health Services is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that supports activities in the health field, and manages more than 200 health facilities, including a network of Aga Khan Hospitals. It works closely with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the Aga Khan University (AKU) on planning, training, and resource development, and with the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) and the Aga Khan Planning and Building Services (AKPBS) on the integration of health issues into specific projects. With community health programmes in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, AKHS is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. It provides curative health care through 237 health centres, dispensaries, hospitals, diagnostic centres and community health outlets to one million beneficiaries and handles 1.2 million patient visits annually. Key responsibilities of Medical Doctor:

Responsibilty:

• Conduct daily ward rounds to evaluate patient status and record all clinical notes, transfers, referrals, and discharges accurately.
• Run regular outpatient clinics to offer prompt diagnostic assessments and medical treatment.
• Regularly assess patient clinical progress to review treatment efficiency and outcomes.
• Respond to medical emergencies promptly to deliver essential acute care.
• Execute emergency surgical interventions during duty hours when required for immediate patient management.
• Provide counseling to patients and their family members on health management and adherence to treatment protocols.
• Coordinate auxiliary services during care delivery, especially for patient transfers, to ensure uninterrupted healthcare.
• Consult with specialized medical consultants on complex cases to support sound clinical judgments.
• Facilitate clinical operations, compile medical reports, and take part in audits, mortality reviews, case presentations, rounds, and training sessions to boost service quality.
• Adhere to duty schedules issued by the Medical Director or Clinical Director to maintain complete coverage.
• Transfer clinical skills and knowledge to nurses and midwives to enhance overall healthcare capacity.
• Evaluate staff performance, supervise clinical personnel, and identify training requirements for professional growth.
• Support clinical audits, infection control standards, and quality management protocols to ensure compliance.
• Instruct and mentor Community Midwifery students to develop their clinical and practical competence.
• Participate in clinical governance and quality control measures to raise patient care standards.
• Extend medical coverage to other departments as needed to preserve operational continuity.
• Carry out supplementary clinical or operational tasks designated by the Department Head, Medical Director, or Clinical Director.
• Enforce infection prevention and control (IPC) standards across assigned hospital units.
• Maintain complete patient registries and ensure accurate health data collection for proper record-keeping.
• Engage in Performance-Based Financing (PBF) operations across assigned health facilities in accordance with program standards.
• Track quality control and quality management metrics while assisting staff in enhancing operational performance.
• Monitor non-PBF health metrics alongside relevant team members to maintain continuous performance tracking.
• Serve on facility committees tasked with evaluating PBF performance to foster ongoing quality improvements.
• Help achieve monthly PBF target indicators at the health facility through clinical tasks and quality improvement efforts.
• Oversee PBF and general program metrics at the health center to maintain reliable reporting and tracking.
• Deliver high-quality healthcare, maintain accurate patient logs, and submit timely reports following organizational guidelines.
• Undertake any other operational assignments directed by the immediate Line Manager.

Job Requirment

Education:

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably within healthcare systems or large service institutions.
• Prior work experience within the BPHS-EPHS project framework is considered a distinct advantage.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and local languages, alongside active listening and presentation capabilities.
