Job Summary

The PSS Officer plays a critical role in the implementation of the "Provision of Community Based Health Education and Psychosocial Support Services for Crisis and Disaster Affected Communities" project in Afghanistan. Reporting to the provincial officer and collaborating closely with the Project Manager/Technical Manager, this role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities across operational, technical, and community engagement aspects.

The IMC Jobs In Afghanistan - PSS Officer - Health Care - 2 Vacancies will have responsibilities that include:

Develop comprehensive operational plans for the Psychosocial Support and Community-based Health Education (PSCC) program, including staffing, resource allocation, and a detailed schedule of project activities.

• Collaborate with the PSCC and Mother and child Health center (MCHC) Teams to ensure the successful execution of awareness-raising sessions, social activities, case management, and referral processes in alignment with the project plan.

• Provide expert technical support to PSCC and MCHC counselors regarding effective case management techniques, ensuring the highest quality of psychosocial support services.

• Organize regular planning and debriefing sessions with team members on a weekly basis, both virtually and in physical meetings, fostering effective communication and teamwork.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage the capacity-building and support plans for PSCC and MCHC Counselors, facilitating their professional growth and effectiveness in delivering psychosocial support services.

• Continuously oversee and monitor the case management referrals made at the site level, ensuring the appropriate follow-up and support for individuals in need.

• Implement and maintain attendance records and other essential reporting tools, ensuring that data collection is conducted ethically and securely. Provide this data to the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officers according to an agreed-upon schedule.

Community Engagement:

• Foster and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including local communities, camps/settlements, district and provincial authorities, UN agencies and Clusters, INGOs, and NGOs.

• Collaborate with the field team in developing weekly and monthly plans, facilitate progress reporting, and proactively address challenges encountered during project implementation.

Job Requirment

Graduation degree from recognized University department of Psychology or Medical Faculty Local candidate will be given preference

Experience: 

• 2-3 years of experience in the Protection/Psychosocial support services/Reproductive Health field in similar roles in governmental or non-governmental organizations

Competency:

• Experience in organizing and facilitating training on protection-related topics.

• Extensive experience providing psychosocial support to individuals and groups.

• Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

• Skilled at working as a team member.

• Possess group facilitation skills.

• Able to speak/write in Pashto, Dari and English with clarity and ease.

• Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Demonstrate strong local language correspondence skills. Particularly in fluency in
