La Chaîne de l’Espoir is an international humanitarian organization established in 1994, dedicated to improving access to quality healthcare and strengthening health systems, particularly for children and vulnerable communities. The organization has been active in Afghanistan since the early 2000s, working to enhance healthcare services and support those with limited access to medical care. In 2005, La Chaîne de l’Espoir contributed to the establishment of the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) in Kabul, a specialized non-profit hospital focused on providing high-quality pediatric healthcare services. Since 2006, the overall management of FMIC has been led by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), while La Chaîne de l’Espoir continues to support medical programs and facilitate access to healthcare for underserved populations. The institute further expanded its services in 2016 by introducing gynecology, obstetrics, and neonatology departments, evolving into the French Medical Institute for Mother and Child (FMIC). Over time, additional healthcare services have also been extended to adult patients. To improve healthcare access for vulnerable individuals across Afghanistan, La Chaîne de l’Espoir provides technical support and capacity-building opportunities for healthcare professionals through both short- and long-term volunteer initiatives. The organization also supports vulnerable children and women by facilitating access to specialized medical treatment and social assistance services. In addition, patients and their caregivers from all provinces of Afghanistan are offered free accommodation and essential support through the Women and Children House (WCH), which provides a safe and comfortable environment equipped with separate facilities for men and women, private and shared living spaces, recreational areas, and child-friendly facilities.

The Cleaner will have responsibilities that include:
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in hospital facilities, including offices, rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Assist with the distribution of meals and refreshments, and help keep kitchen utensils and dining areas clean.
- Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained and report any damage or shortages to the supervisor.
- Follow hygiene and safety procedures at all times, including the proper use of cleaning materials and protective equipment.
- Collect and dispose of waste appropriately to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Support the setup of meetings and other activities when required.
- Report daily work progress and any issues to the Cleaner Supervisor.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and carry out other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirment
- Basic education or elementary school completion is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cleaning and housekeeping services.
- Previous experience with NGOs or INGOs will be considered an advantage.
- Good understanding of cleaning methods and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Well-organized, responsible, and attentive to cleanliness and safety.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Dari is required.
- Knowledge of Pashto and English will be an added advantage.
