After more than 40 years of conflict, Afghanistan remains one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises, characterised by both urgent and chronic needs. In 2021, the conflict intensified with violence that heavily affected the Afghan population. The IEA (Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) takeover on August 15th 2021 was a major turning point for the country, with increasing humanitarian challenges.
Job Summary
- General responsibilities
- The triage nurse will work in the SHC in Syagerd district, Perwan Province and support its implementation through helping with the setup, patient flow as well as patient’s triage and health education.
- Objective 1: Patient triage and flow management
- Activities/main duties
- Prioritize patients according to triage.
- Record each patient’s vitals on the prescription slip/history sheet and a brief history with chief complaints before sending then into the relevant sections e.g., OPD, Vaccination, SRH etc.
- Direct patients to the relevant sections of SHC.
- Gives priority to emergency patients
- Assist relevant section staff for emergency patients.
- Ensure patients flow chart is properly displayed at the SHC.
- Ensure all sections are numbered for easy access of the patient’s to their relevant sections.
- Control crowd of patients
The PU-AMI Jobs in Parwan, (Triage Nurse) will have responsibilities that include:
- Activities/main duties
- Participate in the development and adaptation of IEC material, following MOPH standards and guidelines
- Organize health and hygiene promotion session using the material available, and adapting his/her communication to the audience (adults, children)
- Organize demonstrations of best practices linked to health and hygiene behaviors
- Record attendance of health and hygiene promotion sessions
- Report any challenge and issue to the health facility in-charge. (Medical Doctor).
- Objective 3: Facilitator for Tai Khan SHC activités
- Activities/main duties
- Supports SHC teams in setting up the intervention location, loading/unloading the medical and non-medical equipment,
- Ensures availability of cold drinking water for staff and beneficiaries
- Help the team regarding the health education when a staff provide the education session.
- Help the team in the installation of the tents.
Job Requirment
- Graduated nurse from valid institute of MoPH with passed exit exam.
- Sensitivity to public health issues
- Willingness to carry out frequent field visits throughout Kabul provinces
- Good knowledge of Syagerd District Perwan province is an asset
- Good communication skills
- 1 year NGO experience would be a significant asset
- Knowledge of local languages i.e., Pashto and Dari.
