Job Summary:

ACTED is looking for a Hygiene promoter who has good communication skills and good knowledge of hygiene sector to do awareness raising sessions and engage with communities at ISETs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with CICs and community leaders in ISETs to provide information about the project activities, and priorities of sanitation.
  • Responsible to prepare proper work plan for all Hygiene/sanitation activities and number of sessions to be conducted on weekly/monthly basis.
  • Responsible to conduct open information sessions of Hygiene promotion/sanitation at the community level on weekly basis on following topics (handwashing and hand-washing materials, correct toilet usage, Covid-19 safe practices, food preparation, storage, and safety, safe water supply chain from collection to storage, with emphasis on cleaning of storage containers, solid waste management practices)
  • Responsible to conduct awareness about harms of open defecation and other awareness on critical handwashing times, separate menstrual hygiene management
  • Respecting cultural habits while conducting awareness sessions
  • Identification of potential beneficiaries with women/girls in age of reproduction following referrals from CC, CIC and ACTED team.
  • Identification and record of HHs with serious needs of hygiene/sanitation support to be referred to available service providers.
  • Preparing reports on the impacts of hygiene/sanitation awareness raising session.
  • Building linkages/ networking between other NGOs, projects and other actors present in the area, including district and provincial authorities.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor of health or relevant with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with trainer in a rural/ emergency and/or insecure context
  • Experience working with marginalized populations in community activities.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
