Job Description
Responsibilities:
The UNICEF-supported social & behavior change program is implemented through the Health Promotion Department of the MoPH and through several NGOs. Since 2015, the Afghan Context Community-Led-Total-Sanitation was endorsed as the approach of choice to end open defecation in Afghanistan by 2025. This approach works towards making communities open defecation free and includes a hygiene behavioral change component which involves CDCs and Family Health Action Groups. To achieve an ODF Afghanistan by 2025, the CLTS outreach capacity has increased consistently since 2016 as more NGOs joined the movement, to cover the high-open defecation prevalence-provinces and districts. After starting in 2016, UNICEF continued to work with MRRD, MoPH and the six NGOs, to implement CLTS in rural communities.
Responsibilities of the Job:
- Directly responsible for implementation of field-based engagement of social and behavior change programs in his/her related province
- Â Supervise and management of the field staff (SMs) and their activities
-  Assure effective and appropriate use of, training manual , picture cards , IEC materials in the target areas
- Â Supervise& monitor the distribution and use of IEC materials in the target areas
- Directly responsible for reporting from the field activities and achievements
- Â Sharing new lessons learnt (from the field) with line manager.
- Â Involved in the implementation of KAP baseline SBC survey at the target areas
- Â Conduct health, protection, education, hygiene & sanitation trainings at the provincial level
- Work closely (jointly) with the regional officer for mutual support
- Assist community mobilizers team visiting the field level activities
- Â Follow up on project progress to achieve set objectives in a given time frame
- Â Sustain coordination with pertinent government and none government agencies and attend related meetings on regular bases at the provincial, district and community level
- Â Accomplish the given assignments appropriately and in timely manner
- Â Carry out any other assignment as advised by the supervisor
- Â Compile data collected from HH, village and districts on monthly base and submit quarterly progress report
Qualificiation:
- At least three years of field experience in one of the SBC packages (health, education, protection or hygiene …)
- Â Experience in social engagement and Family Health Action Groups is favorable
- Â Experience in working with community and community mobilization
- Â Familiarity with cultures of different Afghan communities
- Â Very good interpersonal communication skills
- Â Very good teaching/lecturing skills
- Â Basic information regarding Afghanistan MoPH BPHS system
- Â Ability to conduct health, education, protection and hygiene related trainings
- Â Ability to implement hygiene and sanitation programs at the community level
- Â Must be computer literate and familiar with basic computer software including MS Office and internet use
- Â Ability to supervise and manage a team
- Â Must be able to communicate well in Pashto, Dari and English
- Â The both male and female candidates must have the ability to travel to provinces of our intervention
