Requirement

Required Documents:

Applicants are required to upload the following documents together with their online application form:

• CV and Cover Letter: A current CV and a cover letter outlining the applicant’s motivation and interest in joining the Max Planck Institute, along with the proposed period and duration of the internship.
• High School Diploma: A copy of the high school diploma accompanied by an English translation.
• Academic Transcript: A copy of the academic transcript, including an English translation and an explanation of the university’s grading system.

Condations

The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (MPIL) is seeking highly motivated interns who meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s or graduate degree programme at a university throughout the proposed internship period, preferably in Law or a closely related field.
• Applicants must not be pursuing a Ph.D. degree.
• Rank among the highest-performing students in their degree programme.
• Demonstrate strong research, legal analysis, and drafting abilities.
• Have excellent written and spoken English proficiency at C1 level. Knowledge of additional European languages, particularly German, will be considered an advantage.
• Possess good working knowledge of standard computer applications and software.
• Be available to work on a full-time basis, equivalent to 39.5 hours per week.

Internship Responsibilities:

Selected interns will be expected to:

• Conduct legal research in the areas of international law, public law, and European law.
• Support academic meetings and assist with the preparation and organization of research materials.
• Prepare legal summaries and contribute to ongoing research projects.
• Participate in workshops, conferences, seminars, and other academic activities organized by MPIL.
• Work collaboratively with research fellows on assigned research projects and related tasks.
• Take part in academic discussions, intellectual exchanges, and research forums hosted by MPIL.
